Brunch In Beverly Hills

This morning we got to live like the wealthy for a spell. We were invited to breakfast with Tracy's parents at Barneys, a restaurant and department store venture. I had what amounted to a unique take on the pancake. It was literally a pan cake with bananas and strawberries baked in. The batter was not very sweet, and the thickness prevented it from being cooked all the way through. Overall, I found it to be an interesting idea, but executed with questionable results. I had trouble figuring out the other people in the restaurant. Wearing big, dark sunglasses seems to be the height of fashion, so I couldn't tell if people were being trendy of hung over. Being that it was Sunday morning, I suspect a little bit of both. I think I was spoiled to grow up in Florida, because here fresh squeezed orange juice seems to be the exception rather than the rule.

The rest of the day Katie and I spent at Park La Brea where they were having a carnival for the residents. I had my first Sno-Cone in many years. Mine was flavored purple, which is a legitimate flavor when one is talking about Sno-Cones. I also won Katie a stuffed green monkey by possessing the awesome ability to putt a golf ball from here to there in a straight line. Arnold Palmer, look out! After retiring undefeated from the Amateur Golf Circuit, we watched a very spirited young Asian boy play a diverse selection on his electric guitar. His bill included Purple Haze, Hotel California, and a Green Day song whose name escapes me as I type this. As part of this carnival, children had to option to have their hair done up in wild styles with multiple colors. Katie remarked that it was like walking around in a Dr. Seuss book. I thought that was pretty funny. After this day of fun, we had to go back to our depressing little motel like outcasts. Oh, by the way, we have received word that we will be moving in on or about the 3rd of September. This is not at all what I was lead to believe, and am fairly disappointed.
