Christmas

Oh my, how behind I have become. I think that last thing I wrote about here was how disappointed I was with the new James Bond movie, and that was long enough ago that the sting has almost healed over. Let's see, what has happened since then? There was Christmas, I remember that. Oh yeah, there was also this little trip I took to Switzerland to partake in a little skiing and other various winter activities. That was a damn good trip and far more fun than I can write about now. Instead, I'll fill you in on what I can recall from the Christmas season.

In order to escapes the dismal failure that was Halloween, we got our Christmas lights out reasonably early and actually got them on the house in time. Nothing spectacular, but at least we got the job done. More importantly, we came up with some ideas for next year that we hope to implement. This year was just the basic icicle lights with some of those spiral trees in the yard. Not exactly the Griswold Christmas, but definitely enough to keep up with the neighbors.

I managed to get all of my Christmas shopping done, despite facing some severe hardships. These hardships were essentially a colossal bit of laziness toward actually going shopping as well as the fact that I spent most of my money in preparation for this ski trip. But I did manage to get it done, and this year before Dec. 25, which many of you know is the conventional cut-off date for Christmas gift buying and giving. I think next year I'll do things a little differently and just give people nice stuff whenever I can afford to buy it, and then come Christmas I'll just remind them of the cool thing I got them earlier in the year.

In any case, the rapid fire events of the season culminated in the usual frantic wrapping done in the wee hours of Christmas morning before a few hours of sleep and getting back up to unwrap them before the tape even has a chance to fully adhere. It's sort of a tradition in my family. Well, for me anyway. Everyone else seems to be more on top of things. But not me! I'm holding on to the old traditions! After Christmas morning and Christmas breakfast which usually happens more around the time of Christmas lunch, we all get ready to go to Grandma's house for the big family dinner. My time at the dinner was cut terribly short because I had to ride up to Atlanta with Karol so that we could catch our plane the next day and begin our Swiss adventure, which will be chronicled in some upcoming blog to be sure. I hope you all dear readers had a pleasant holiday season, and I wish you the best for the new year!
