Necrotization!
That cheerful word, necrotization, is what is happening to the skin at the very site of my spider bite. It means "to kill or cause death" which explains the pleasant black color and sensitivity to touch. Not the whole thing, just the spots where the fangs punctured the skin; the rest is pretty much healed up. It makes me wonder what kind of evolutionary process made it a good idea to pump your dinner full of toxin just before you eat it.
In the past few days I have taken to watching The Food Network in the times between dropping Katie off at her internship and going to pick her up. Laugh though you may, there are some pretty good shows on during that day, although I resent the fact that the targeted demographic is expected to respond to commercials for nursing careers and menopause medication. Emeril has some fun shows, but after a while he starts to remind me a little of Dubya. They both have beady little eyes that are always darting around. They both like to ad lib their speeches and talk with heavy accents, but most of all they both like to really dwell on the easiest part of what they're explaining. I guess the biggest difference is that in the end, you can actually see something useful and productive that Emeril has created, whereas with Dubya everything is a big mess but someone for sure has been awarded a medal.

it's called an eschar. Which, depending on which professor you ask, is pronounced, "es-car," "es-char," or "echar." Take your pick. Does it hurt? Cuz if not, it may be anthrax. But that's just what I read online. Plus, I haven't seen it.
