The Beginning Of The End

Somewhere out in the cold expanses of cyberspace, the good vessel SmogBlog maintaints a steady orbit around www.Blogger.com. Not particularly flashy or extravagant, SmogBlog offers a place for weary surfers to relax a bit and maybe take a few laughs with them when they leave. Being that this particular vessel is not overly complicated and doesn't require constant attention and can instead be kept aloft with just cursory maintenence, it is staffed by a collection of capable but simple nanites. These tiny machines scurry about keeping track of all things vital and trivial and generally do a good job. Unfortunately, for all their built-in diligence, they lack any real sense of individual initiative. This underlying design flaw would become devastatingly apparent in the next few days, and would ultimately lead to the destruction of SmogBlog.
